I tried changing the jumpers in every possible configuration, but with the same result each time, I searched for any firmware I could find, but nothing has worked. Information and links in this thread may no longer be available or relevant.

I just wanted to be sure there wasn’t a known issue and fix out there before spending money of any amount. I never took the drive out or changed anything until I started to troubleshoot, so I have no idea why it’s not reading DVDs. Did you check the HP website?

The machine is about 3 yrs old I did not see this driver in Windows. Please try again now or at a later time. The driver is the one in Windows.
IcEDec 26, I googled it and got some firmware updates that referenced it was a 16x drive. None to the doucmentation I have has the original driver.
